E-books, Audiobooks, or Physical Books? My Thoughts

Today, I though it would be interesting to talk about how we like to read. Whether we prefer physical book, audio-books, or e-books.

They’re all valid ways to read, in my opinion, and though one isn’t better than another, we each have our preferred methods.

There is no right or wrong here.

To find out my thoughts on each, and learn which method(s) I prefer, keep on reading.

Audio-Books

Audio books sure have come a long way since I first met them during High School Freshman-English.

Nowadays, some are narrated by well-know actors and actresses, while others feature a full-cast of actors.

The best part about audio-books is their convenience. You can take them with you wherever you go without carrying additional devices, by downloading them to your phone.

If you’re good at multi-tasking, which I am not, you can listen to them while doing other things. Many people like to listen while working out, cooking, cleaning, or running errands.

I like to listen to them while I’m working. Contemporary Romance is my fave for this because the story-lines are easy to follow, yet entertaining.

Even way back when, I’ve always enjoyed a good audio-book.

E-Books

To date, I’ve only read one e-book, and I read it on my iPhone.

To be honest, I don’t fancy reading from a screen. But, in the spirit of fairness, I’m told there’s a big difference in reading from a back-lit screen, your phone, versus a front-lit screen, like Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite. I have yet to try it.

The upside to e-books is not having to worry about physically storing your books. Another upside is they’re always with you. You can literally take hundreds of books with you wherever you go, and have them at your fingertips.

Physical Books

Call me old-fashioned but I love the feeling of holding a physical book.

This is the medium in which I first fell in love with reading, so perhaps my fondness is tied to nostalgia. I remember being young, lying on my bedroom floor, ankles crossed, book open, spine crushed – completely lost in a fictional world.

I love that I can escape from the world with print books since they don’t require technology in order to operate. Just me, a book, and nature.

This is my preferred medium. This is my fave.

Wrapping Up

Whether you prefer audio-books, physical books, or e-books, I’m just glad that we’re reading. Now let’s get out there and read some mo’.

Happy Reading!

All the Best,
♥ Ash
